Technical Specialist

In North America, our headquarters in based in Columbus, Ohio operating in 20 states.  Our Technical Department is currently in search of a Technical Specialist to support our customers and Sales organization.

 

Job Overview:

As a Technical Specialist, you will work closely within the Dümmen Orange technical team, supporting production farms, broker and grower partners in the resolution of production-related challenges, optimizing production practices and advising on new techniques to grow Dümmen Orange products.

 

Your tasks and responsibilities

  • Support grower and broker accounts to assist in resolving specific technical challenges
  • Prepare customer facing training documents and bulletins that relate to pathology and other technical topics
  • Conduct educational webinars for grower and broker customers on new or updated technical practices in all crop categories including phytopathology issues
  • Approval of quality claims
  • Responsible for verifying technical guide content
  • Stay current on university, trade, and internal research being conducted and keep teams informed accordingly
  • Communicate/share information internally and externally
  • Provide feedback to farms, technical team, product managers and sales on cutting quality & issues
  • Facilitate meeting with Sales and Product Managers throughout the selling cycle and beyond
  • Serve as the initial point on contact and North American liaison for GreenCare – Dümmen Orange’s phytosanity program

 

Your Profile

  • Degree in Plant Science, Plant Pathology or equivalent experiences
  • Minimum of 3-5 years greenhouse growing experience
  • Unbiased source for technical knowledge
  • Deep cultural knowledge of ornamentals
  • Willingness to travel on a regular bases (25 – 50%)
  • Analytical mind-set with strong problem solving skills
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills within multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
  • Organizational skills
  • Computer literate and proficient

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION:  The position is a full-time, exempt role with the ability to work a hybrid schedule.

Commercial Director, APP Americas

 

Dümmen Orange is a leading global breeder and propagator of ornamental flowers and plants, offering an impressive portfolio of cut flowers, potted plants, bedding plans, perennials, bulbs and tubers to growers, wholesalers, and retailers around the world.  Employing over 7,500 people worldwide, our global headquarters are based in the Netherlands. 

We are looking for a high-energy ambitious individual to lead and grow our Annuals, Perennials, and Potted Plants business in the Americas region.  As the Commercial Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our APP business by strengthening relationships with customers and developing and driving market strategies.  You’ll lead a team of seasoned and passionate sales and customer-facing professionals who will execute against the market strategies you devise.  This position offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned sales leader to grow personally while continuing to grow brand recognition and achieve sales targets. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse, define and implement the go-to-market strategy and budget plans for North America that drive the delivery of budgeted sales results
  • Allocate resources - organize, lead, direct and motivate the APP sales organization in North America to deliver sales results
  • Drive and deliver profitable sales performance (revenue, margin, S&M OPEX, EBITDA, operational profit contribution) and growth to meet financial and non-financial goals
  • Define, implement and conduct professional key-account management strategies and build effective relationships that sustain and grow the business in the Americas region.
  • Develop, implement and conduct growth-focused business plans to broaden market share in the Americas region.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Academic degree; in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, Business Economics or an Agricultural study or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior managerial Sales position in an international environment with growth-focused experience in B2B sales preferably in the Floriculture
  • Experience in development of Business Plans, Business Analytics and financial insights
  • In depth knowledge of the Flowers & Plants industry and international horticulture markets
  • Great people management skills
  • Fluent in English with Spanish or Dutch language proficiency
  • Ability to gracefully make difficult decisions and communicate courageously
  • Entrepreneurial leader with commercial talents and a well-developed international trading spirit

Customer Service Representative

 

Customer Service Representatives must have excellent communication and phone skills, great attention to detail and ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively under pressure while meeting daily deadlines to insure customer quotes, orders and shipments completed by the set customer standards for our company. Customer Service Representatives are responsible for order integrity/management, pricing, vendor communication, clearing of shipments and freight questions and assisting in claim initiation and resolution. 

 

Accountabilities

  1. Maintain and build relationships with Sales Force and customers.  Provide front line support to internal and external customers for daily communications with field sales tools and reporting.
  2. Drive order integrity of customer accounts throughout the entire business year.  This involves, but is not limited to, order management, shipping, subs and cuts, pricing and claims and returns.
  3. Own the order process from start to finish including order entry, sourcing product, verifying acknowledgements, vendor confirmation, editing orders, status checks, and order changes.
  4. Key player in sourcing product requested by the customer or needed due to vendor shortages and recommending alternative options to customers.
  5. Provide excellent customer service while gathering and offering recommendations on.
  6. Responsible for gathering  report/data and analysis for sales reps progress. 
  7. Develop and distribute timely communications of information.  Some communication is driven by the Customer Serivce Rep and other communication is at the request of others.
  8. Participate in special projects as requested
  9. The role will be onsite through training and onboarding periods as well as a positivity, flexibility and being open to change.

 

Critical Experience: 

This position prefers a Bachelor’s degree with preference given to those with Ag/Horticulture or related field experience.  The individual must have extensive Microsoft Office, Word and Outlook experience. Outstanding knowledge of Microsoft Excel is necessary in order to fill this position.
